What You Need to Know About Fortnite Chapter 4: Season 3

chapter

This season is all about the jungle and wildlife.

Fortnite Chapter 4: Season 3 has introduced some new changes to the battle royale. Thanks to the Wilds theme, we’ve got some updated mechanics and a new jungle biome. Just before its release, Epic Games has been teasing the season for the last few weeks; they even released a trailer for it on Summer Game Fest.

You can now cover yourself in mud as you slide around the undergrowth to help you blend into the surroundings. New weapons like the Thermal DMRs can make undercover players stick out like a sore thumb. If you want to know more about what Fortnite account owners should expect in Season 3, check out our overview!

In the Jungle, the Mighty Jungle

No, the lion won’t be sleeping here tonight if that’s what you were about to say. Kidding aside, Fortnite’s island now has a new jungle biome to explore. The biome is smack dab in the middle of the entire island, and unfortunately, Anvil Square is now nowhere to be found because of it.

The large jungle area has three different POIs:

  • Shady Stilts
  • Rumble Ruins
  • Creeky Compound

This is the place to be if you want to experience the new gameplay elements added to Fortnite. You now have thicker tree canopy covers you can zip up to and fight on top of, Grind Vibes to ride while being able to fire your weapons, and mud to use to camouflage your character and increase your slide speed.

Use the Flora to Your Advantage

The jungle in Chapter 4: Season 3 comes with new vegetation to help you or hinder to progress of your opponents. The game has blue, yellow, and purple floras—all of which provide different effects.

The blue flora is known as Slurp Plants, and they burst into a shower of healing blue goop upon hit that you can use to increase your health and shield. Meanwhile, the yellow Stink Flowers release a poisonous gas that can slowly decrease one’s health. Finally, the purple Bomb Flowers are precisely what they are—they can be used to launch explosive projectiles at lurking enemies.

Bring Out the Big Guns

It’s not a new season without having some sort of new weapon to get your muddy hands on. Here are the weapons you can expect to see in Fortnite Chapter 4: Season 3:

  • Wildwasp Jar – Unleashes a horde of angry wasps to damage your enemies slowly.
  • Thermal DMR – A weapon that has a thermal scope. Best used when enemies are hiding in an area.
  • Flapjack Rifle – A Mythic weapon with an extended clip. Perfect for the long haul.
  • Kinetic Boomerang – A weapon that can hit opponents on the way out and return to the owner after use.
  • Cybertron Cannon – The weapon of the season that makes things go boom.

Here are the returning weapons:

  • Combat SMG – Although powerful, this SMG has a lot of recoil, making it tricky to handle if you have shaky hands.
  • Drum Shotgun – An old favorite of Fortnite players. There’s also a Mythic version available for this season.

The star is the Cybertron Cannon, a Transformers-esque launcher that can fire explosive projectiles. However, this season, the Kinetic Boomerang and Thermal DMR are also nice additions to the Wilds theme.

Fresh Faces in the Battle Pass

Like clockwork, the Battle Pass for Chapter 4: Season 3 brings in a lot of fresh faces to the game. The headline addition is Optimus Prime from the Transformers franchise. We might get a crossover event if the rumors are to be believed. Other standouts in the Battle Pass include Purradise Meowscles and Lorenzo, a rugged explorer who appears in this season’s key art. There’s also Trace, Mariposa, Era, Relik, and Rian, who will all appear as you progress through the tiers.

As always, the Battle Pass costs 950 V-Bucks, and you’ll have tons of skins, emotes, accessories, and more to unlock once you collect enough Battle Stars. All of these skins won’t appear in the Fortnite item shop, so there’s a cosmetic item you want to get from the Battle Pass, you’ll have to purchase it.

Our Favorite Raptors Are Back

It’s been a while since we’ve seen our beloved raptors. They were last seen way back in Chapter 2. Thankfully, the jungle theme of Wilds is the perfect time for them to make a comeback. You can tame these creatures and ride them by jumping on their backs. The raptors provide a speedy way to get through all the dense flora. They’re not as fast as the sportscars or motorcycles in the previous season, but it’ll do.

More New Content Awaits

That’s all our information about Fortnite Chapter 4: Season 3 for now. Since the new season is just starting, we still have many months filled with never-before-seen content awaiting us. Who knows? We might get more crossover events besides the one we already have for Transformers.
